I have a cover idea! Finally!
If you've stopped by my authonomy page, you'll notice I have one of their generic covers posted for my book. Well, thats about to change. After sketching one thumbnail(a little picture about the size of your thumb) after another, I finally know what I want to put as my cover. I know it probably won't stay if it gets published, but it'll work for now and thats what I need.
In other news, I handed chapters 11-20 to the first of my editting friends two days ago. She hasn't started them yet, but she thinks she can have them done by this time next week. Seeing as I'm just now starting on the rewrite for chapter twenty-four, I'm not about to rush her.
I'm also trying to rework my pitch and get a small pile of artwork done. Hopefully I'll finish up this book by my birthday and be starting in on Book Two by June. I've been itching to start a new manuscript and I already have a few scenes scribbled down in my various notebooks.
Well, on that note I better get to work. Chapter 24 is waiting for me and it's not going to be an easy one. Besides, I went to the library earlier and now there's a stack of books just begging to be read....
Hm...maybe I'll work on those edits tonight instead.

Welcome to the official blog of Hannah Hounshell. Here you can follow along with me as I stumble along the path to publication. Let's just hope I don't fall into too many potholes along the way. Wish me luck ^_~

Aaaand they are live!
Well, there isn't any cover art and the pitch is a little shakey, but the first ten chapters of my book are now availible for your veiwing pleasure at http://www.authonomy.com/books/30728/new-beginnings/
Please let me know what you think right here on Blogger, ok? You won't be able to post comments on Authonomy unless you're a member of the site.
That's all for me, folks. I'd have more to say, but I have three chapters to clean up for my two editor friends and another one awaiting a rewrite. Between that and work tomorrow, I think I'll call it a night.

If it's not one thing, it's another
I am about ready to pull my hair out. Seriously.
Here's why...
I've gotten the first ten chapters of my book back from both of my editting friends. I talked to them, and then went through the chapters and fixed all the errors they had marked. I even fixed a few that Microsoft Works pointed out, only to realize I had a million dialogue tags that needed to be fixed. So I grumbled and sat down to get them done. I got half of them squared away this morning and then stopped to shower and head off to work. When I got back home, I did a little more work and watched my favorite TV show before returning to the computer to finish the last bit.
They're done now, but guess what? I have no cover art to put up when I post the chapters to Authonomy.
-sigh-
So instead of posting my chapters today and getting up tomorrow to find a few comments on said work(I had hoped), I get to plot out a rough sketch in the morning and pray the end result won't send people running to another book instead.
I also need to skim chapters 11-20 and make sure they don't have any major errors. Then it'll be time to see if I have enough paper to print them all out(doubtful). If I do, I'll be putting the results in a binder to be dropped off later and I'll have the day off to relax with my hubby. Guilt free.
Who wants to bet it'll go nothing like that?
On a brighter note, this is still a fairly rough draft and I don't have a contracted deadline. So if I decide to ignore the plan and just enjoy the day doing anything but writting, I can do that too.
And with that happy thought, I'm off to hit the sack. If I stay up any longer I'm going to be waking up with keyboard marks on my face.

I'm still wandering around here somewhere...
Well, I managed to survive the holidays with my sanity intact. I still have christmas presents for both of my nieces floating around, but I'm sure they won't mind late gifts too terribly much. I hope not, anyway.
For some reason chapter 23 has proven to be as sticky as chapter 22 was. I'm not sure why, but it seems....a little overstuffed. I hope to strip it down a bit tomorrow, but since I have a very neglected apartment to clean and artwork to finish, I'm not sure how long I'll have to work on it.
On a happier note, my friend is done with the first ten chapters and I'll be heading over there sometime in the near future to pick them up and go over edits with her. Then those same chapters will be given to another friend of mine. One last round of edits, and I'll have the first ten chapters of my book posted on authonomy while the rest of the book is editted.
Oi...
And somewhere in all this I need to get six pictures finished and ready to be sold in May, and get some art prints made up to be sold as well....
I also need to get started on book two in this trilogy of mine. Hm. Well, on that note, I'm off to bed. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll get chapter 23 polished all in one go and have plenty of time to finish the artwork awaiting me on my artdesk.
I can hope, right?

Is it over yet?
Well, the holiday season is winding down at last. And beyond all my expectations, I've actually managed to get some decent work done.
Chapter 22 is in the bag at last, and I start chapter 23 tomorrow. There's still no word on my chapters in editting, but I'm pretty confident that they're done. Hopefully I'll be posting them on authonomy in early january.
I even managed to get all my christmas presents finished. I haven't been able to drop them off, but at least they're done, right?
Well, sorry this post is so darned short, but I've got fresh artwork waiting for me on my art desk and new pencils to play with. I've been itching to get my hands dirty all day, so I'm off to play and enjoy my free evening.

Stick me with a fork, I'm done
Well, the holiday season is in full swing and I'm ready for it to be over. Like, yesterday.
On a happier note, I'm down fiddling with chapter twenty and edits for twenty-one went off without a hitch(weird I know). I'm still getting those moments of looking at the changes I've made and thinking "What have I done?!", but I'm working through them. It doesn't hurt that I've several coworkers who are willing to pause and read my bits of story and offer their opinions on it. All in all, my production rate thus far has been pretty good. Now if I can only get twenty-two to cooperate with me, I'll be happy. Well, happier anyway.
Moving on now.
The first ten chapters of my MS are still with my editting friend. Last I heard she was on chapter nine and that was sometime last week. Hopefully I'll have something to post on authonomy in January. Maybe. Did I mention that I have another editting friend who's going to look at it too? She'll get school credit for helping me out and shes a wicked speed-reader so its a win-win.
And thats all I have for tonight, folks. Its 12:56am and I have to be up and moving way too early tomorrow. G'night!

She's alive!
Hey folks,
Sorry I've been a little MIA lately, but I managed to pick up a rather nasty cold and I spent last week feeling miserable and sleeping a lot. I did manage to get chapter 19 finished, though.
Editing for chapter twenty is going as well as can be expected with the holidays starting up. I keep hitting these snags where I find myself wondering if the story is reading clearly enough. Seeing as I don't have a beta writter I can haul over to my place and show those snags to, they've been slowing me down a lot. There's nothing like spending almost thirty minutes trying to reword something, only to find that you really had gotten it right the first time. Oi...XP
Anyway, I'm not going to be posting much while the holidays are here. I have discovered that sleep is actually a necessary thing for my sanity, and work deprives me of enough of it as it is. Besides, my forward progress is pretty crappy during the whole holiday rush.
