It's kinda weird to have internet again after doing without it for almost a year. So weird, in fact, that I keep forgetting we have it. Even stranger is that a part of me misses NOT having internet.
No, I'm not crazy....
It was really liberating even when it was so darned frustrating. It was like a forced detox that showed
me what was really important in life....and how to appreciate it instead
of letting it slip by. I've gotten so much accomplished since we lost the internet and a little more patient to boot.
Not too patient though. I'm working with the chapter three edit notes right now and I have this urge to smack myself. Why the heck didn't I be more detailed on the changes? Why did I assume I'd remember what I meant to write and magically put it in? I can only hope that chapter three is the only bunch of notes this obtuse....ugh.
Anyway, I have a mountain of cleaning to do, so I better get cracking. The sooner I'm done, the sooner I can take a little more time to beat chapter three notes into submission.
I can hope, darn it.
Later, guys :)

Wordless Wednesday: A quick peek at my messy art studio
Alrighty...I had to put the artsy stuff on hold so I could dedicate some serious time to getting my apartment cleaned up once and for all. Thus far it's going well, but I'm not done yet. So instead of art, here is a peek at my art studio where I try to do most of my work. You know...instead of taking over the livingroom as is my tendency. Oops. :)p
Well, I still have edits to do and a kitchen to finish cleaning, so I better go. The next Wordless Wednesday will be artsy, I promise. Today I was just...distracted? Oh well, back to dishes! :D

| My furry companions, plus one. Nikki watching the guinea pigs. |

| Big easel and my other bookshelf. Can you tell I like model horses? |

Ways a ruin a good day
Misplace your phone the day before, not worried because you can just have your husband call it later.
Wake up the next morning to realize you really don't have a clue where it could possibly be and ask husband to call it.
Husband gets your voicemail.
Start looking for dead phone in a house that really ought to be cleaned. After searching all the usual places, including the art mess you left in the living room last night after working on art that was to be finished TODAY, you come up empty.
Proceed to use some choice words and check the car.
Nothing.
Eat lunch and try to remember when you had you phone yesterday. The good news is both you and your husband remember you having it at home after work. Bad news is you still have no idea where you left it.
The book sale you wanted to go to today is half over at this point. You can't even go visit the friend you were planning to see today, because the address to his new place is on your missing phone.
Throw a book at a wall and stalk down the hall. Slam the door behind you and have a small break down because you STILL can't find your damned phone.
Realize you haven't written your blog post for the day and since there's no way you'll be able to finish chapter twenty-eight while you're feeling the need to strangle something, there's really no point in waiting.
Stare at empty screen for all of two minutes and start typing.
Post.
And that, my friends, is how good days go bad. Pardon me while I go clean my apartment and resist the urge to cause serious bodily harm. Regular, more cheerful posts will resume next sunday.

Is this thing on?
First I'd like to thank Shell flower over at Tangent Shell for the Versatile Blogger and Kreativ Blogger awards she sent my way last week. It was a very pleasant surprise to say the least. Thanks again!
Also, to those of you who left me little "get well soon" comments, thanks. I'm feeling much better. Today I'll be putting my bucket to better use as I work to get my apartment looking a little less ragged.
In other news, I've been kind of a ghost when it comes to the internet as I continue to chip away at chapter twenty-eight. I've hit several new snags, but after fighting with them off and on over the past few days, it looks like I should have this chapter in the bag sooner rather then later. I would've tried to wrap it up last night, but I'd already spent about three hours worth of time hammering it out while I was at work. I don't know about anyone else, but my brain can only take so much abuse before it runs up the white flag. So instead of doing more work on chapter twenty-eight, I spent the evening with my husband and we watched the Dresden Files dvds I got from the library.
And on that note, I'm off to get started. My husband gets off fairly early today and I still need to clean. Plus I promised homemade pasta and fudgy brownies for dinner tonight. If I want to get it all done in time to wrap up chapter twenty-eight I better get a move on.
~Sun and Moon
P.S. Sorry this post is so short! I will try to write a longer one for next week when my brain is a little less scattered. :3

Another year come and gone
Well, the holiday rush is over, but my brain is still feels like a pile of fried mush. I'm back to work on chapter twenty-eight, but I can only do so much with fried mush so it's slow going.
I've knocked out one problem scene in the past week, and I'm working on tweaking another, but when you have new art books waiting to be read and new pencils just begging to be used...it's hard to stay on track. Today it was niether of those things that made this blog post late. Nope, I was just playing Sims 3 Pets and munching on some of the holiday goodies my family sent us home with. It's now almost six o'clock and I just now realized I hadn't written my blog post yet.
How embarassing.
Anyway, I'm off to go hammer more issues out of chapter 28 and do some hardcore cleaning. Then it's time to set up the two new lamps I bought yesterday. If they work out the way I hope, I'll be able to work on my art late at night instead of having to wait till morning or afternoon. Natural light is still the best, but you only get so much of the darned stuff during the winter. Fingers crossed, this will solve that dilemma for me.
Happy New Year, folks. May it be a good one for you. :)

My kind of day
It has been an awesome week for me. It would've been better if the holidays were over, but I made do. Part of the reason I had such a good week is that chapter twenty seven looks to be done for good. All the bits that were nagging at me have been fixed and run through three different beta readers. They all loved at and I went ahead and sent it yet another just yesterday. I'm now enjoying a short break before I jump back into chapter twenty-eight on tuesday.
The other part of my good mood is because I had a day off with my husband for the first time in several weeks and we spent the day eating good food, going to a few of our favorite places. I now have a bunch of new art supplies from Hobby Lobby(including some clay), the plan to get my CCW this coming summer has been put into action, and we bought a filtered fountain for our cat.
Yes, definitely an amazing week.
I'd stick around and chat, but I better get to work. I might now have edits to do, but there are gifts to wrap, dishes and laundry waiting for me, and artwork to finish up. Also I found this yummy looking recipe for lemon-chili wings in one of my cookbooks. I grabbed the ingredients yesterday at work and I hope to serve them up with salad and french bread when my husband get home.
Wish me luck :D

No pain, no gain
Sorry about the extremely late and short post today. You see, I spent most of my day yesterday climbing all over the registers at work, and today I scrubbed, mopped, swept, and vacuumed my apartment until it was reasonably clean. I've a wicked set of bruises on my knees and I feel like I've been hit with a bus, but at least I can invite over folks without cringing.
Anyway, I'm just now getting to bed after finishing a piece of artwork that has been sitting around for months. All in all it was a very productive day, even if I did miss a few items on the agenda. Mainly doing some editing for chapter 28, while dishes and laundry come in close second.
I'm kind of creeping along on chapter 28. In part because it's so darned rough that I'm forever stopping to reword something, or even take it out altogether. I'm still making progress though. Not much, but it's there.
Well, I hate to say it, but I better get my behind to bed. Work start early tomorrow and I still have some cleaning to do afterwards.
G'night folks.

Balancing act
I really need to get back on the ball.
Today I realized its been way to long since I put chapter 27 to bed and started in on chapter 28 without anything to show for it but a notebook page of notes. While this is still work, its not enough for me. I've been slacking big time.
I could blame this on the new Sims 3 expansion, or the ginormous stack of library books sitting in jumble of worn covers and yellowing pages in my art studio, or even the fact that the past few days have been far too nice to spend indoors. However, it all boils down to a lack of balance and I darn well know it.
Excuses don't fix much, let me tell you, and they don't get work done either. Now, I could've buckled down today and I didn't. I could've cleaned the kitchen properly instead of just doing the dishes and calling it a day, or maybe given the bathroom a good scrubbing. There are guinea pig cages that still need to be cleaned, and I've a small pile of artwork still waiting to be finished.
You can't really enjoy the moments of relaxation if you've left things undone that you shouldn't have. For instance, its hard to really dive into the pages of an old favorite when your conscience is nagging you about the dirty laundry peeking out through the bathroom door.
A little balance can go a long way to making you feel at ease, like you've really accomplished something. Its too late for me to get back on the ball tonight, but tomorrow is another day and I plan to spend it with the scent of fresh pine shaving in my nose and the gritty scrape of a comet dusted rag in my ears as I put my apartment to rights. Maybe I'll even get on of those pieces of artwork polished off and still have time to catch some sun before relaxing with my husband until bedtime. You never know, right? After all, life is what you make of it and I for one don't intend to let it go to waste.
Well, that's all for me tonight. Work starts early tomorrow and I've a lot to get done once my shift is over.
G'night, guys.

P.S. Has anyone else had trouble getting Blogger to post a scheduled blog entry? Darn thing just sits there...>_<

Still under construction
The apartment is nearly clean, and edits for chapter twenty-seven have been underway for the past week. I wish I could say I've been making wonderful progress and that I'm almost done with the darned thing(the chapter, not the apartment), but alas, no. Instead of moving through to the sticky part in the middle of said chapter, I got stuck on the beginning.
No joke.
Yup, that's right folks. For the past week I've been stuck on one darned paragraph that refused to cooperate. The whole reason it had to be redone? It was too over the top. Just a little. Ok, maybe more then a little.
Monday I spent about six hours hammering it out, but still wasn't happy. I'm still not sure, even after getting some wonderful feedback from my beta readers, that I'm happy with it now. It still sounds...off to me. Or maybe its because the original words have been in place for over a year? Either way, I'm setting it aside to come back to later. Maybe then I'll see it as a good fit instead of as a hasty bandage.
For now, however, its time for me to get back to work.

Leave no dish unwashed
Over the past week I have realized I am in desperate need of a time machine. I concidered cloning, honest I did, but decided it was too messy and unpredictable. Nope, time machines are the only way to go.
Unfortunately, they're awfully scarce in Ohio. If you find one in working condition, please let me know.
On another note, I still haven't had a chance to do more then read over chapter twenty-seven and make notes as I've been on a one woman rampage to finally get my apartment in order. So far my livingroom, art studio/study/guinea pig room, and the tiny spare bedroom(read: large closet sized room) are all looking pretty snazzy. The bedroom and the stairwell outside our door is another matter. However, it's too hot to work on the stairwell and our cat, who isn't feeling well, has taken over the bedroom. Since I don't want to disturb her I'll be pulling out my laptop and curling up in the livingroom to get some serious work done at last.
Or at least that's the plan.
There's apple crisp cooling on the stove and my hubby is waiting for me to serve it up(why he won't serve himself until I cut it first is beyond me, lol), so I better get cracking. Bedtime will be here soon enough and I have work in the morning.
I was serious about that time machine, by the way.
